Upemba National Park is proud to announce that its Law Enforcement team has been awarded “Best Ranger Team” of the African Conservation Awards 2026. This recognition celebrates the courage, dedication, and professionalism of our rangers, whose daily commitment to protecting one of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s most remarkable natural landscapes continues to inspire us.

“This award belongs first and foremost to our rangers. Working in a challenging and often unpredictable environment, they demonstrate that conservation is not simply about protecting wildlife and ecosystems; it is also about safeguarding our natural heritage for future generations” said Ms. Christine Lain, Director and Site Manager. “Their perseverance, discipline, and sense of duty embody the spirit of Upemba National Park and its ongoing renaissance.”

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Game Rangers Association of Africa (GRAA) for this recognition and for its continued commitment to celebrating the essential role of rangers in conservation across Africa. We also warmly thank all our technical and financial partners, institutional counterparts, and supporters who have contributed to strengthening the capacity and impact of our Law Enforcement unit. Your trust, solidarity, and sustained support help make this work possible.

Every contribution toward ranger training, operational capacity, equipment, staff welfare, and field support help reinforce our shared mission. This award therefore represents not only an achievement for our team, but also a recognition of the wider community of partners and supporters working alongside us to secure the future of Upemba’s extraordinary biodiversity.

As we celebrate this milestone, we renew our commitment to protecting the park, supporting the people who defend it, and building a future in which nature and communities can thrive together.

To our rangers: thank you for your service, your resilience, and your unwavering commitment. This achievement is yours.

To the GRAA and all our partners: thank you for standing with Upemba as we make a difference together.

Shukran!
