From July 16 to 18, 2025, Upemba National Park (UNP) took part in the Festival Mondial de la Musique et du Tourisme in Kinshasa, an event held under the patronage of President Félix Tshisekedi and co-organized with UN Tourism. The Festival gathered international artists, cultural ministers, tourism operators, youth innovators, and the media, creating a unique platform for culture, music, and tourism.

For UNP, the Festival was a strategic opportunity to promote its image as an oasis of biodiversity of the Great Katanga and the DRC, highlight its contribution to the Congo Basin’s resilience and environmental balance, and showcase its tourism potential to investors and partners.
At the cultural village, the Park’s booth stood out with immersive visuals, including a large LED screen projecting images and videos of Upemba’s landscapes and wildlife. The team led by the site manager, Ms. Christine Lain, and the deputy site manager, Director Innocent Mburanumwe shared first-hand stories from the field, creating authentic connections with visitors.
The experience underlined Upemba’s unique positioning as a symbol of biodiversity and resilience in a region dominated by mining narratives. Looking ahead, UNP plans to build on this momentum through a sustained #RediscoverUpemba
#RedécouvrirUpemba campaign, engaging influencers, eco-tourism operators, and partners under the Green Alliance Initiative of Greater Katanga. The Festival marked an important step in reintroducing the park to the national and international stage, with growing prospects for green tourism, conservation partnerships, and sustainable development in the DRC.
